professional background
As well as Ki Work’s blog I currently write a weekly gadget column for The Scotsman newspaper, lifestyle articles for Pacha magazine and articles focusing on business and technology for corporate clients, websites and publications including: Scotland on Sunday, Scottish Business Insider, The Independent, Executive PA and many others.
My first book, ‘The Guardian Guide to Working Abroad’, was published in spring 2008. This arose from a regular column I wrote for The Guardian newspaper. It was called ‘A Desk in the Sun’ and focused on the joys and otherwise of telecommuting, working and living overseas.
At the same time I was web editor of The August Club, an online social network for retired and soon-to-retire professionals. And before that I was managing director of penpusher.com, the first web content agency focused on text.
That company was formed after I left the staff of The Scotsman newspaper where I edited and launched the paper’s weekly ‘Interactive technology’ supplement and was a member of the team that launched the award-winning scotsman.com website. I joined The Scotsman from The Sunday Times where I was a business correspondent.
